Chicago Hearing Care holds agreements with the Doctor of Audiology programs at Northwestern University, Rush University and University of Wisconsin pertaining student clinical education. Every year these agreements bring intelligent, driven, and promising Doctor of Audiology students to our practice to complete a 10-week clinical rotation. During this time, students gain clinical experience working with Dr. Ullauri as their Audiology preceptor.

During 2021, we had the privilege to work with 5 brilliant students:

Courtney Baker is a second year Doctorate of Audiology student at Northwestern University. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in Communication Sciences and Disorders as well as Spanish for the Professional Use. Courtney has an interest in bilingual audiology and providing services to both adults and children.

Lauren Longhenry is an audiology doctoral student at Northwestern University. She is currently completing her externship through UW-Health in Madison Wisconsin. Her research experience includes completing a 2-year research assistantship through Dr. Pamela Souza’s Hearing Aid Lab at Northwestern University.

Kirsten Petrarca is a fourth-year student at Rush University. Kirsten is currently completing a full-time clinical rotation at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital in Connecticut and will graduate from Rush in April 2022. In her future career, she hopes to work with patients of all ages and to be more involved in community outreach programs. She also hopes to have more time to read! Her favorite books are The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

Laura Ríos is a third year Doctor of Audiology Student at Rush University. She is an intern this fall semester at Chicago Hearing Center. Laura is interested in working with adults and children. Prior to starting her program, Laura was a high school Spanish teacher for six years.

EmilyAnn Duffley is an aspiring pediatric audiologist. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Audiology at Northwestern University, where she served as the campus representative for the Illinois Academy of Audiology. EmilyAnn earned dual degrees in Speech and Hearing Sciences and Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2019.

The future of our profession is in good hands! We wish them much success as they join the field of Audiology!
